"Hey look, it's Mark Sheppard!" - Walking on the Edge
I don't really have a plan...

"Hey look, it's Mark Sheppard!"
This is pretty much what I end up saying at least once while watching episodes of a favorite show. Why is that? Well, because Mark Sheppard shows up sooner or later on pretty much every show I watch. I first caught him during his memorable performances as Badger in Firefly (I do love the character), and since then, he's shown up in Burn Notice, Battlestar Galactica, Dollhouse, White Collar, Chuck, Warehouse 13, and Supernatural (I enjoy him as the demon Crowley).

Strangely enough, he often plays a bad or at least shady guy on these shows, but he always manages to make the characters unique. I guess that's why he's become my favorite (what would you call it, B list?) random TV actor. I'd actually really like to see him be a main character on a big network show for a whole season or more one of these days, too, although he does seem to be getting gradually bigger parts, like in Supernatural and Warehouse 13.

But can we talk about Warehouse 13 for a minute?

WHY DID THEY GO AND KILL HIM OFF, PEOPLE?? WHY??

I was really starting to enjoy the character, particularly after the Pete-hallucination episode where Pete tries to kill him and he's all hanging up by his wrists trying to talk Pete down from the murder tree with logic. <3 So I was REALLY pissed when they got to the whole "Warehouse 2 one must die" bit, because I KNEW it was going to be him. Pete and Myka can't bite it, and H.G. Wells has a lot of story development still hanging around, so it was clear that One was going to be good ol' Mark Sheppard, bowing out of another cameo (albeit a longer-running one). AND I WAS SAAAAD. I was glad to see Pete apparently shared my pain.

But seriously, TV folks: give Mark Sheppard a break! Stop writing him out of shows. I love him!

And now, I will stop ranting, and just say:

You know what would be really cool, actually? Mark Sheppard in one of the Discworld movies. I guarantee they could find a part for him, and I'd love like candy to see him play a character in Terry's world. Granted, I haven't figured out quite which one yet, but I'm sure if I sit down with it long enough, I can figure it out.

...And just while typing that, I had a thought: Wouldn't Mark Sheppard make a fun Doctor Hix? I mean, come on - it's in the job description for the Doctor to be slightly evil! It's a perfect fit!

I hope it happens. :D

(P.S. I wrote this before watching the latest ep of WH13, btw.)

So, have you seen him in Leverage? Jim Sterling is the best adversary they've ever had... and Sterling never loses.

I haven't! I've never seen Leverage. Hrm.

DUDE. I DIDN'T REALIZE HE WAS BADGER UNTIL LATER.

He's also on Leverage and he's AWESOME as Sterling. Every time I see him I squeal with joy. It's kind of unsettling how much I like him as an antagonist.

I really never even heard of Leverage until now. Dur!

I respectfully disagree simply because if he had his own show, I might never see him on Leverage and never be able to squeal "STERLING!"

But he is a fantastic actor.

I need a freakin' "HELLO MARK SHEPPARD!" icon or something.

That, or "MARK SHEPPARD: HE'S EVERYWHERE."

Love, love, LOVE Mark Sheppard. He truly makes his often one-dimensional roles and transforms them into multi-faceted characters. And I really love the way that he speaks.

Me too! He's awesome. That's it: I'm starting my campaign of Get Mark Sheppard in A Season Arc Somewhere And Also In A Discworld Movie now. :)

Hmm. I can sort of see him as CMOT Dibbler... Not exactly evil, but you certainly wouldn't want to give in to temptation and buy one of his pies.

Hee! Good one. But...I'd rather see him as Hix, I think. Just 'cause I love the Hix character a lot. :)

Oh, yes. Mark Sheppard is one of my favorite living actors, period. Like others have mentioned, I also love him as James Sterling in Leverage. Plus, he played a younger version of his father's character on NCIS. I actually watched an episode of CSI just because he was in it.

By the way, I'm not entirely convined Valda is dead on Warehouse 13. He seemed way too eager to jump into the flames for him to actually be totally dead. Besides, nobody ever stays completely dead in science fiction.

See, I could see him not being dead, too. But...I dunno, somehow I feel like this show doesn't bring back characters as often as we'd like. Unless I'm speaking too soon and MacPherson appears out of nowhere next ep. Heh.

UGH I can't read this yet. So I'm commenting to remind myself to comment later. I'm not entirely caught up yet — about 6 more eps to go.

Well at least I remembered to spoiler-warn! :)

have you seen The Middleman? He's in the last two episodes of that

I HAVE NOT. I should. :)
