Help Haiti Heal! Webcast Fundraiser Saturday - Donate and you could win a prize!

Fandom is coming together in an effort to raise money for victims of the Haitian disaster. In an event run by The Leaky Cauldron and the Harry Potter Alliance, this Saturday, January 23, from 2 - 6 pm ET, there will be a live, cross-fandom webcast and drive for donations. The webcast will feature speakers and performances from not only the Harry Potter fandom, but other fandoms as well (including LOST and Heroes). Donations raised by the webcast will be given to Partners in Health, a charitable organization that has been on the ground in Haiti for over 20 years and will remain in Haiti, working to end poverty and bring about a healthier society long after the initial relief efforts have ended.

The coolest part of all of this (well, besides helping a very worthy cause)? If you donate, you may win a prize! Depending on how much you donate, you will be entered in a raffle for certain items (e.g. if you donate $20, you will be entered in a raffle to win one of several donated prizes in the $20 category).

The group has received over 100 prize donations thus far, and is still collecting donations, if anyone would like to donate a prize.

The prizes listed so far are pretty darned cool, and include:

- five lots of one signed and *DEDICATED* copy of Unseen Academicals by Sir Terry Pratchett (RARE, since Terry does not usually do dedications these days)
- a signed first edition hardcover of Wintersmith by Sir Terry Pratchett
- signed copies of Blood Muse (edited by Esther Friesner) and Death and the Librarian (written by Esther Friesner)
- full pass to LeakyCon 2011 events
- 20 pages of fiction edited by Cheryl Klein of Arthur A Levine Books
- Guest spot on Pottercast podcast
- signed copy of Movies in Fifteen Minutes, by cleolinda Jones
- signed copy of The Fug Awards, by the gals of www.gofugyourself.com

And much, much more.

The official press release is below.
