	A blog post with several links to different people's experiences at the book festival. The newsreel link includes this statistic: "Fiction & Fantasy writer Terry Pratchett seemed to hold the record for the day by signing non-stop for three hours!" Wow. I didn't realize he was there for that long. In other Pratchett things, this chart of the Discworld books (in groups) kind of makes me dizzy: Ack! Finally, An in-depth (and I mean IN-DEPTH) analysis of why the movie version of The Dark is Rising would make Susan Cooper turn over in her grave, except for the fact that she's still alive. That The Dark is Rising movie makes me want to cry. I just read the series a couple of months ago, but I fell in love with it, and I can't believe what they've done to the books. I've also lost a lot of respect for Ian McShane because of his interviews. No, the books aren't written in Old English. STFU.

I've read these about 12 times from when I was a kid to just this year. I love them, and I hate John Hodge, even though I wouldn't know him if I met him on the street.

Yeah - the person who did the comparison post opined that maybe Ian McShane was taunting us on purpose, and I sincerely hope that is the case. But with all the other WTFery going on with the movie, who KNOWS?

cleolinda mentioned a "Boycott this Movie" campaign. I'm all for it.

Oh no. I didn't think the preview looked promising, but this sounds awful. I love the Dark is Rising books so I don't think I could stand to see the movie.

re: the interviews - I love that bit about "I didn't actually read these books, but I loved Lord of the Rings..."

*sigh* One good thing - this inspires me to re-read Susan Cooper.

Yeah, I re-read the books shortly before the movie trailers started coming out, and when I heard, I was very excited about the movie. Now? Not so much. *sigh*

I feel bad for Susan Cooper.
