A Post Guaranteed to Keep You Occupied Although Maybe Not Productively Who Knows
OK, so I have been really a) busy; and b) tired for the last few weeks, not to mention I hurt my back and thus have had ow ow ow pain and also missed some work and now am trying to jam in make-up hours between stuff I already had planned and actually having A LITTLE pain-free free time. So.

In the last few weeks I have accumulated, like, a bazillion interesting or cool links, that I meant to post in an actual nice linkspam post, but y'all? I am tired. And lazy. So you know what I'm going to do? Just put them all here. WHAM. Here they all are, every single link that was interesting enough for me to save in the last few weeks. With none of that nice italicized quoting or explanatory titling or categorical organization or crediting of sources at all. And only the occasional explanatory comment. But still definitely worth checking out! Think of it as a smorgasbord. With the occasional link that might be the equivalent of the weird-looking globby dish in the back. But hey: YOU'LL NEVER KNOW IF IT'S GOOD UNTIL YOU TRY IT.

So have at it!

Nope! I'll look at those when I have time.

On another subject, I wish I had the time and ability to get a group together to bid for NADWCON. However, I don't know enough Discworld fans, I've never organized a Con, and I'm a little more than three years from finishing a Ph.D. I'll just hope I can help the group that wins if they need someone else on the committee that does things I can do. Otherwise, I plan to volunteer for the next NADWCON. Of course, this all depends on it not being the exact time I have to take my oral exams during the Fall 2011 semester!

Well, hey, putting on a con is A LOT of work - sometimes it's way more fun to volunteer. :) And I am sure the committee that gets the con will be glad of the help.
kahlan_amnell From: kahlan_amnell Date: March 20th, 2010 05:15 pm (UTC) (current file)
Yep, I know it is a lot of work. Hence why trying to be involved in putting one on while in grad school would probably be a terrible idea.

I hope I'll be able to go to the 2011 one. I have to take preliminary exams (2 eight hour written exams, 1 4 hour written exam) and orals (a 2 hour oral exam) and try to get my dissertation proposal approved that semester. But if it is a similar weekend, I think I might be able to manage it as a break from the studying I will have been doing pretty much all summer.

By then you will REALLY deserve a break!

Oh, P.S. I meant the Periodic Table is great. I wasn't talking about my journal, although that said, thanks for the compliment! :D
