People who read comics are just like everyone else!
Thanks to my friend Mike for this fun link to Wired's the Secret Life of Comic Store Employees.

I love the last guy, who (correctly) points out that your comics from 1993 are not worth $1000 each. Heh.

Lots of good things happening on the convention front. I can't believe it's just over 6 months away!

Jesus christ, I need my brain adjusted...

I totally read that last line as "Lots of good things happening with the convection font"... And I was really confused. Like maybe you'd gotten interesed in typography.

HEE. Well, I *am* interested in fonts, as far as it goes. But I don't know that I'd be totally excited about them. :)

Yhea I read that. I bugged me that One, ONE (ok was it two?)of the people when asked about which character they would like to be from a comic went past Superman, Batman, or Spider-Man. Really? But it was fun to read, and insightful...

Yeah, although I would have liked to see more females, and/or more females who hadn't been into comics forever because their dad was a graphic artist. I mean, not that that's not really awesome - just that it would have been nice to see another one or two gals.

I guess, though I'll admit seeing girls in comic shops even just buying comics seems to be a rare thing, less rare since manga became popular though...

Interestingly, I've not yet tried reading manga. I might someday, though. :)

Agreed, that last guy is great, not just because of what he says about those collector types, but also because of what he has to say about the general misconceptions. So very true.

And on a random note... holy something, I'm in awe at the size of these stores. o_O
Seriously, our local comic shop is like half the size of one aisle from the one in the first picture.

Have you been to the Forbidden Planet in London? That and the one in NYC are pretty big. Also: features a fairly life-sized leaping Spider-man. Heh.

Not yet, nope, but I've heard about it and am totally going to check it out when I'm in the neighbourhood. *g*
Ah, comic book shopping, so much fun.

I wonder if they still have the Marvel Classics lead figure of Cable there. I should have bought it when I was there. (They didn't have Deadpool at the time, but now I have him and he needs his Cable!) The one in NYC didn't have either of them. They're pretty much a UK thing.

I enjoyed how almost every one of the guys responded to the nerdy question with "I have a girlfriend." I kept wanting to add, "really man, I do!"

I know! And how every one referenced Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. HEE.
